Driver CPC deadline : 09-08-2019
Driver CPC deadline!
The deadline has passed for many professional lorry, bus and coach drivers to complete their 35 hours of periodic training, if their current Driver Qualification Card (DQC) expires on 9 September 2019.
It is illegal for professional drivers to operate without a valid DQC.
Following Brexit, professional drivers of lorries and buses will still need a valid DQC to drive professionally in the UK.
Missing the deadline
Drivers can be fined up to £1,000 for driving professionally without a valid DQC. Operators also need to make sure their drivers hold a DQC. Find out more about what to do if a driver misses the training deadline.
Finding a training course
You can find training courses by visiting the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) website. Only courses taken with approved centres count towards periodic training.
Check how much training a driver’s done
Drivers can check how much training they’ve done and when they’ll get their next DQC on GOV.UK. They can also use this service to give their employer temporary access to their training record.

Operators need to register their trailers
Commercial trailers weighing more than 750kg must now be registered before towing them to, or through, most international countries. Operators can register their trailer on the GOV.UK website.
